Corbridge

Corbridge is a small town in the south of the region, near Hadrian's Wall. Corbridge has a lovely rural feel with quaint streets and old style shop frontages with fascinating displays that make you want to explore further.
There is a huge bridge crossing the river Tyne, which is very wide and flows rather majestically. You can stroll along the riverbanks. |

The old Saxon church is at the heart of the town and next to it is the 'Vicar's Pele' - A tower built around 1300 for a vicar of Corbridge. It was lived in as a fortified vicarage until the early seventeen century. |

Corbridge is a lovely country town with a selection of tea shops, antique shops, artists studios and other interesting shops to browse. |
A plaque at the church proclaims the history of the town, its battles and slayings, occupations and burnings. It is truely a town steeped in history and built from stone from the nearby roman settlement on Hadrian's Wall. Today it is a tranquil, friendly place which is fun to explore.
