Northumberland is one of England's largest counties and one of the most rural.

The area to the west is dominated by the northern Pennines and the Cheviot Hills. Most of this area is contained in the Northumbria National Park and the Kielder Forest Park.

Hadrian's wall stretches across the southern part of Northumberland appearing and disappearing as you cross miles of fields.

The eastern coastal region provides some truly amazing spectacles. This is a flatter fertile area dotted with small market towns and villages. The Northumberland coastline is considered to be one of the finest stretches in England. There is an undisturbed beauty with little tourism and the beaches are fantastic. Boat trips can be made to the Farne Islands to see puffins and seals and at low tide you can drive across to Lindisfarne.
